Kia ora.

Welcome to our blog. We’re two Kiwis spending the summer of 2019 exploring Canada by car. Stick around to read more about our adventure!

She Says: Bay of Fundy Rocks!

She Says: Bay of Fundy Rocks!

Twice a day the force of the Atlantic Ocean tides fills the Bay of Fundy. Its unique geography is home to the highest tides in the world! You don’t want to be that dude who ties their boat up at high tide… only to return a few hours later to find your boat dangling from the rope.

The Hopewell Rocks, or Flowerpot Rocks, are a pretty magical place to experience this. At their peak the tides can rise up to 13m, which is kind of crazy. Over many years, the force of the tides (and the annual freeze-thaw cycle) has eroded the sandstone cliffs, creating a series of unique pillars rising from the ocean floor.

When we arrived, it was right on high tide. The views were spectacular, and we wandered around taking it all in. You could actually watch the tide accelerating out until it was low enough you could explore from the ocean floor.

But enough of the chit-chat, I’m just going to show you the photos.
